Indonesia has announced public consultation on Non-cellular Low power wide area network equipment.

SDPPI launched a public consultation on Technical Standards for Non-Cellular Low Power Wide Area Network Telecommunications Equipment on November 7, 2023.

To protect the public from possible losses arising from the use of non-cellular low power wide area network telecommunications equipment, as well as to ensure connectivity in telecommunications networks, the Directorate General of Post and Information Resources and Equipment of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics has prepared a Draft Decree of the Minister of Communication and Informatics concerning Technical Standards Non-cellular Low Power Wide Area Network Telecommunications Equipment, which must be fulfilled by every non-cellular low power wide area network telecommunications equipment created, assembled and/or imported, for trading and/or use in the territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

Non-cellular low power wide area network telecommunications equipment is telecommunications equipment with low electrical power consumption and wide coverage that works in radio frequency bands outside the cellular radio frequency band which consists of 2 (two) parts, namely end node and gateway.

The Draft Decree of the Minister of Communication and Information concerning Technical Standards for Non-Cellular Low Power Wide Area Network Telecommunications Equipment is power supply, non-ionizing radiation, electrical safety, EMC, filtering, and radio frequency ranges 433.05-434.79 MHz, 920-923 MHz, and 2400-2483.5 MHz.
